SEVEN  LOCKS:   Spring  2008  Update

SEVEN  LOCKS  ELEMENTARY  – BOUNDARY STUDY LAUNCHED

There’s progress on expanding and modernizing Seven Locks Elementary School!

·        Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is finalizing the report on project options that emerged from PTA/community meetings this last year.

·        MCPS FY 2009 Capital Budget and FY 2009-2014 Capital Improvements Program, submitted to the County Council, requests funding for completing the architectural design in FY 2009 and finishing the project by January 2012.

·        The next step involving community input is the boundary study covering the Bells Mill, Seven Locks and Potomac elementary school service areas.  The first phase of the study is the formation of an advisory committee comprised of PTA representatives from those schools, as well as the two affected middle schools.  The second phase is the submission of the Superintendent’s recommendation to the Board of Education in mid-October 2008.  The final phase is Board action on the proposed boundary changes after work sessions and public hearings in November 2008.  MCPS has set the schedule for meetings on the boundary study, most of which will be held at Cabin John Middle School (media center), 7:30-9:00 PM.   Although all meetings are open to the public, there are two meetings specifically for community input:  February 27 and May 12, 2008.   DO ATTEND!
